Summer 2023
Posted on:August 24, 2023
As you may know our single vineyard of seven acres of vines is tended by hand by a team of two, Geoff and his assistant Jake. They are kept very busy during the summer months keeping on top of disease which can be rife in this warm damp weather, keeping the vigorous vine growth under control by trimming and tucking in the vines, as well as mowing the grass and getting rid of the weeds between the vine rows. The vineyard is always well kept following these sustainable principles, which ensure the essential balance of leaf production and shade which, along with sunlight exposure, allows the grapes to ripen.
Our four varieties of grapes which, in order from bottom of the vineyard to the top, are Rulander (Pinot Gris), Auxerrois Blanc, Schönburger and Madeleine Angevine, are now ready to ripen and we hope the much needed sunshine is on its way
